The APT Australia Chapter is comprised of members of the Association for Preservation Technology International (APT International) currently resident in Australia.
The APT Australia Chapter was formally constituted in 2004 after operating informally since 1989, under the guidance of Donald Ellsmore.
Currently, Donald Ellsmore is the Convenor of the APT Australia Chapter, with David West and Bill Jordan assisting as Co-Convenors.
The aims of the Australia Chapter are as follows:
- To raise the profile of conservation (preservation) technology in Australia
- To foster training and professional education opportunities in conservation (preservation) technology in Australia
- To increase the international awareness and spread of APT International activities
- To increase Australian participation in APT International activities
- To increase Australian membership of APT International
Today the APT Australia Chapter operates largely as a “virtual chapter” through email correspondence and this web presence. The APT Australia Chapter also organises:
- Seminars or workshops on conservation technology topics, usually in conjunction with other conservation groups, such as Australia ICOMOS, DOCOMOMO Australia, National Trusts, Heritage Victoria, Heritage Branch / NSW Dept of Planning, Historic Houses Trust of NSW.
- Informal talks by local and visiting conservation practitioners.
Membership of the APT Australia Chapter is automatic for all members of APT International who reside in Australia. There are no additional membership fees.

Very nice site and I am excited to see all the activity in Australia. I hope to come visit in the next year. Keep up the good work and I will check in regularly to see what is going on in your part of the world!
